fmAccounting Link (Xero Edition) Customers Map

Every now and then I like to generate a map and see where in the world our customers are located. We’ve shared some maps of where our fmSMS Customers are located and I’ve just generated a map for our fmAccounting Link (Xero Edition) customers. Xero currently reports that it has over 600,000 subscribers in more than 180 countries, however these 4 countries/regions represent their largest customer base:

  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • UK
  • North America

Xero will be announcing their annual results next month, but we know that as of 30 September, 2015 these countries/regions had the following subscribers:

  • Australia: 262,000
  • New Zealand: 163,000
  • UK: 102,000
  • North America: 47,000

Xero UK total subscribers recently overtook Sage 50, the UK’s #1 desktop accounting software product for the past 30 years. Australia and New Zealand is seeing subscriber growth of over 50% and North America is their fastest growing region.

It came as no surprise to see that our fmAccounting Link (Xero Edition) customers reflect these Xero numbers – as you can see in the following map all fmAccounting Link (Xero Edition) users are based in the four main Xero target markets:

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next 12 months – based on Xero’s growth we’ll see more Australia, New Zealand, UK and North American customers, but we’re also expecting to see some interest from other countries that Xero is actively targeting such as Asia where Xero did it’s first ever Roadshow in February.

fmAccounting Link (Xero Edition) and the Xero API SHA2 SSL Cert Migration

Last year Xero advised developers that they will be migrating the Xero Developer API websites to use SHA2 type SSL certificates in place of the current SHA1 certificates on March 9th 2016. Xero has provided a test API site with the SHA2 SSL certificate installed for developers to run some tests to ensure their applications work with the new SSL certificates.

We’ve run a series of tests using the fmAccounting Link (Xero Edition) solution file against the test API site and are pleased to report that everything worked successfully. We were able to authenticate, download and upload data correctly, so at this stage we don’t anticipate any issues once the new SHA2 type SSL certificates go live in March.

If you encounter any issues with your own testing please let us know so we can address these ASAP.

Xerocon 2015

The Australian leg of the annual Xerocon conference is on this week in Melbourne and Databuzz is once again looking forward to attending to learn about the future for Xero and their API.

We’ve been busy recording a number of new videos that demonstrate how to integrate the fmAccounting Link (Xero Edition) solution and how easy it is to get up and running. The first three of these videos are now online and cover:

  • Create an Invoice in FileMaker and Upload to Xero

Databuzz to Exhibit at the 2015 FileMaker Developer Conference

FileMaker Inc. have recently released the schedule for the 20th anniversary edition of the FileMaker Developer Conference (DevCon) to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 20-23, 2015. We’re excited to announce that we will be once again exhibiting at the conference, and this year we have 2 products to demonstrate (a 100% increase on previous years!).

Databuzz now Xero Approved Developer

Databuzz is pleased to announce that we are now a Xero Approved Developer.

Like many of our customers we use FileMaker Pro to run our internal business processes and as a Customer Relationship Management solution – we’re tracking all our Customers, Invoices, Quotes etc in FileMaker. Earlier this year we decided to make the switch from MYOB to Xero for our accounting software – one of the main reasons we switched was the Xero API, which allows us to integrate FileMaker with Xero seamlessly, something we could never do before with MYOB, particularly on the Mac platform.

We love working with APIs and the Xero API  is no different – it’s well documented, has a great previewer feature and let’s us test API calls on a non production Xero file. We’ve performed a number of FileMaker to Xero integrations this year, starting with our own FileMaker CRM. We’ve been able to eliminate the previous double data entry of customers, invoices and payments in both FileMaker and our accounting software. Now we just enter everything in FileMaker and click a button to push the Customer, Invoice and Payment data directly to Xero.
